Letter: Challenge funding cuts in Colorado SD 23

Dear Editor,

When it comes to mental health and the availability for treatment for mental health disorders, even though the patient doesn’t have the ability to pay for the treatment, the word "inclusion" definitely comes into play.

Unfortunately, Senator Kirkmeyer and her financial backers from the oil and gas industry have manipulated an election so that she can stay in office and force the issue on budget cuts, especially for healthcare including mental health services. In our state's current situation, it’s easy to see that mental illnesses and homelessness are at the boiling point. Cutting funding and ignoring the crises are not the answer. We need superior leadership in the State Senate and we are not getting this from Senator Kirkmeyer.

My question is: how many voters in Senate District 23 would be willing to sign a petition to recall Senator Kirkmeyer and force a recall special election?

Furthermore, how many voters would be willing to respond to a special poll by answering a single question:

Should a politician be reelected by using financial influence from the oil and gas industry to pay off a newspaper reporter to create a biased article about her opponent? This newspaper article reached thousands of readers via print media and online media.
