Dear Editor,
Here in Colorado we have a homeless veteran crisis. Many of these veterans also have untreated mental health conditions, that compounds, their need for safe shelter. Therefore, in order to protect these veterans, I would propose legislation to build a separate transitional housing facility that would be exclusively for homeless veterans. This facility would be built next to the transitional housing facility for non-veterans, but the facility for veterans would have a separate secured entrance. This facility would also have mental health professionals who would provide mental health services and support. We as a society have the responsibility to provide transitional housing and mental health services for our veterans because they choose to put their lives at risk to protect the United States of America. I believe that my proposed legislation is a good solution.
